GD&T Advanced Concepts- VIRTUAL

Course Objectives

This program is a continuation of your education in the Y14.5 standard. There will be discussions about being able to identify both correct and incorrect drawings with GD&T. In this program, we focus on the application and interpretation of GD&T – another step closer to becoming a GD&T expert.

Q. What is the difference between our GD&T Fundamentals and Advanced Concepts workshop? 

A. Advanced Concepts differs from GD&T Fundamentals in Three ways:

 1. More in-depth discussion on selected topics that are often not covered in fundamentals classes

  • Relating GD&T to part applications

2. Covers GD&T topics in a manner that relates closely to how GD&T is used in industry

  • Principles of Dimensioning
  • Examples using more complex drawings
  • Exercises using more complex drawings
  • Functional Dimensioning
  • Choosing the best symbol based on part function
  • Profile applications
  • Position applications
  • Inane datum specifications

3. Explanations of topics that are not explicitly covered in Y14.5, but are needed and used in industry

  • Functional Dimensioning
  • Non-rigid parts
  • Restrained parts
  • Special datum target types
  • Rules for composite tolerancing
